Surveying and Cartography Frequently Asked Questions

1. HOW MUCH DO WE PAY FOR THE DIFFERENT LAND TRANSACTIONS?

The different transactions in map surveying are charged as follows:

2. HOW DO I OBTAIN DEED PRINTS?

  • You submit a job record jacket (JRJ) to the surveying section at the Directorate of Physical Planning.
  • After a thorough scrutiny by the survey section, it’s forwarded to the Physical Planning Committee for consideration.
  • If the file is approved, it’s then forwarded to the Senior Staff Surveyor of the KCCA Ministerial zonal office who issues deed prints.
  • It should be noted that the titles are also issued at the KCCA Ministerial Zonal office department of Land Registration and Administration

3. WHAT IS THE REQUIREMENT FOR SUBDIVISION SURVEYS AND AMALGAMATIONS?

Refer to submission check list on the website and a copy can be obtained from Physical Planning Customer Care desk, also below:

A: MAILO SUBDIVISION SURVEYS CHECKLIST

  1. Mutation form signed and stamped by a registered surveyor with comments from the Registrar of Titles.
  2. Folder cover from the Survey firm of the Registered Surveyor.
  3. Copy of Certificate of Title
  4. A recent cadastral map and topographical map clearly indicating the parent plot and the proposed plot subdivision with access road of not less than 6m for proposed accesses.
  5. Job history signed by the field surveyor.
  6. Field notes (On UTM)
  7. Working diagram
  8. Traverse computations
  9. Area computations

B:  LEASEHOLD/ PUBLIC LAND SURVEYS- Fresh Surveys

  1. Consent letter from controlling Authority (ULC, BLB, KDLB)
  2. Request for Instruction to Survey from a registered surveyor
  3. A recent cadastral map and topographical map clearly indicating the proposed subdivision with an access road of not less than 6m for proposed accesses.
  4. Index Diagram clearly indicating the area of the plot and dimensions around it. Please note that the minimum plot size is ten decimals
  5. Job history signed by the field surveyor.
  6. Field notes (On UTM)
  7. Working diagram
  8. Traverse computations
  9. Area computations

C: LEASEHOLD/ PUBLIC LAND SURVEYS- Subdivisions

  1. Consent letter from the registered proprietor for the affected plot.
  2. Copy of certificate of Title.
  3. A recent cadastral map and topographical map clearly indicating the proposed subdivision with an access road of not less than 6m for proposed accesses.
  4. Index Diagram clearly indicating the area of the plot and dimensions around it. Please note that the minimum plot size is ten decimals
  5. Request for instruction to survey from a registered surveyor

D: AMALGAMATIONS- Mailo Surveys

  1.  A consent letter and a mutation form comments from the Registrar of Titles and Title photocopy for the plot to be amalgamated to.
  2. Together with (A) above.

E: AMALGAMATIONS- LEASEHOLD SURVEYS

  1. A consent letter with comments from the Registrar of Titles and Title photocopy for the plot to be amalgamated to.
  2. Together with (C) above.

4. HOW DO I GET A TOPOGRAPHIC MAP AND/OR A FIELD CADASTRE PRINT?

You first of all go to the revenue office at the former DFCU bank branch near the main entrance to the Authority headquarters to obtain a bank slip.
You bank 5000 Shs plus bank charges for each of the cadastre print and a topographic map.
You take the paid in slips to the cartographer in the surveying section who will then issue the said documents
