Excitement is in the air as the stage is set for the long-awaited Kampala City Festival, slated for Saturday, October 12, at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.
The event, organized by the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) under the theme “Culture, Innovation, and Sustainability,” promises a day of color, music, and unity in the heart of the city.
By Saturday evening, the festival grounds were a hive of activity. Workers were busy putting finishing touches on the main stage, corporate lounges, vendor stalls, and VIP tents all in readiness for the thousands of revelers expected to throng Kololo on Sunday.
The Children’s Village is being set up, complete with bouncing castles and fun-filled activities, while the Christian stage, Halal Village, and Cultural Village are also taking shape ensuring everyone feels represented.
The preparations were today inspected by the State Minister for Kampala Capital City and Metropolitan Affairs, Hon. Kabuye Kyofatogabye, who was accompanied by KCCA Executive Director Hajjat Sharifah Buzeki.
The two leaders expressed satisfaction with the progress and commended the teams working tirelessly to make the event a success.
“This festival is not just a celebration; it’s a reflection of our city’s vibrancy, creativity, and unity,” said Hajjat Buzeki. “We appreciate our sponsors and partners who have come on board to make this possible, and we encourage all Ugandans to turn up in big numbers.”
Entrance to the festival is free of charge, with gates opening as early as 6:00 a.m. and closing at 11:59 p.m. To ensure safety and order, KCCA has worked closely with security agencies to manage access and traffic flow.
The festival lineup is star-studded, featuring top artists such as Ava Peace, who will thrill the crowd with her hits London, Tabbu, and Wanula, among others. Gospel lovers are not left out, with performances from Pastor Wilson Bugembe, Minister Rachael Kay, and the Watoto Children’s Choir lined up on the Christian stage.
Adding to the glamour, Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja, the Prime Minister of Uganda, is expected to grace the occasion as Guest of Honour.
The Kampala City Festival often dubbed “the people’s celebration” is returning in grand style, offering a platform for cultural expression, innovation showcases, and family-friendly entertainment.
It’s a moment for the city to come alive with dance, music, and color a testament to Kampala’s unstoppable spirit.
