Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has held a Dedication and Performance Recognition Ceremony for Primary Seven candidates ahead of their final Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) scheduled for November 3–4, 2025.

The event, organized by the Directorate of Education and Social Services, took place on Thursday morning at the City Hall Lower Gardens and brought together pupils, parents, teachers, school heads, and religious leaders from across Kampala.

Speaking at the ceremony, Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago congratulated the candidates for reaching this crucial stage in their education journey and urged them to remain focused, confident, and determined.

“Congratulations for coming this far. Stay focused and motivated. Working hard and perseverance are critical,” said Lukwago. “Always seek guidance from your teachers and be confident, don’t doubt yourself. The journey you have embarked on is long and requires an indomitable heart.”

The Deputy Executive Director of KCCA, Mr. Benon Kigenyi, hailed teachers for their role in shaping the learners from their early years to this point.

“It has been a transformation of seven years, and we must thank our teachers for mentoring these children who came to school knowing nothing but are now ready for national examinations,” Kigenyi said.

He encouraged the pupils to believe in themselves, trust in God, remain disciplined, and respect their teachers. “Whatever you dream, you can achieve. It all starts here, with these exams. Work hard, stay calm, pray, and success will follow you,” he said.

Parents and guardians were also urged to continue providing moral and physical support to their children as they prepare for exams. “Give them good meals, enough rest, and keep them encouraged,” Kigenyi advised.

According to Charles Magnot, the Director of Education and Social Services, Kampala has 31,755 candidates sitting for PLE this year, of which about 9,000 are from Universal Primary Education (UPE) schools.

Magnot said the dedication event is meant to spiritually prepare and motivate learners while recognizing outstanding schools and teachers who have excelled in academics and co-curricular activities.

During the ceremony, Nakivubo Primary School, Clever’s Origin, and Buganda Road Primary School were recognized for their outstanding performance in Music, Dance, Drama, and Poetry. Several teachers and headteachers were also honored for their dedication to learners’ success.

Religious leaders from both the Christian and Muslim faiths led prayers of blessing and dedication, assuring candidates that God would guide them through their exams.

“Do not fear these exams. The Lord who has walked with you from Primary One will never forsake you,” one of the religious leaders prayed.

The event concluded with a message of hope and encouragement to all P7 candidates across the city, reminding them that success comes through hard work, faith, and discipline.
