Festival goers attending this year’s Kampala City Festival on October 12 at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds will enjoy free transportation courtesy of E-Bus Xpress, a service by Kiira Motors Corporation.

According to Eng. Kavuma Ian John, the Managing Director of E-Bus Xpress, the company is honored to be part of the Kampala City Festival and is offering complementary rides aboard four fully electric buses to support the event.

“We are offering complementary transportation free of charge with free WiFi on board,” Eng. Kavuma said. “This initiative is aimed at decongesting the city and reducing harmful vehicle emissions during the festival.”

Two of the buses will operate on the route from City Square to Mulago, through Kamwokya, Bukoto, Ntinda via Stretcher Road, Spear Motors Junction, Nakawa Market, Lugogo, and Jinja Road, returning to City Square. The other two buses will operate on the same route in the opposite direction, ensuring continuous and convenient movement for revelers across the city.

Passengers can conveniently disembark at City Oil Kamwokya, Kati Kati Junction, or Wampewo Roundabout and take a short walk to the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.

KCCA Executive Director Sharifah Buzeki applauded the contribution, describing it as a timely and impactful gesture towards making the festival inclusive, safe, and environmentally friendly.

“This is a great contribution to the success of the Kampala City Festival,” Buzeki said. “We are very grateful to Kiira Motors Corporation for this partnership that supports our vision of a greener, smarter Kampala. The electric buses are not only comfortable, with WiFi and modern interiors but they also demonstrate Uganda’s progress in embracing sustainable mobility.”

Representing the Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, Councilor Solome Nakiridde Sebina rallied city dwellers to turn up in big numbers for the festival, saying it is a celebration of Kampala’s rich culture, innovation, and diversity.

“We encourage all city residents to come out and celebrate together as one Kampala family. The festival is about unity, creativity, and sustainability,” Sebina said.

The Kampala City Festival, organized under the theme “Culture, Innovation and Sustainability,” is expected to attract thousands of revelers. The inclusion of the electric buses aligns with KCCA’s broader agenda of promoting clean transport solutions and reducing urban air pollution.

Festival goers are encouraged to take advantage of the free rides, enjoy the comfort of Uganda’s homegrown electric buses, and celebrate Kampala’s culture and innovation in style.
