KCCA FC HOLDS FIRST ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING, PASSES UGX 6.3 BILLION BUDGET

Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA)-owned KCCA FC has approved a UGX 6.3 billion budget and adopted its statutory governance framework after holding its first Annual General Meeting (AGM), a mandatory requirement under the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) Club Licensing Regulations for participation in the 2026/27 Uganda Premier League season.

The AGM, held Friday at the MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo, brought together the club's board, management, stakeholders and FUFA representatives to consider the club's statutory agenda, financial plans and strategic priorities.

FUFA requires all clubs seeking licensing to hold an AGM where members consider governance, financial and operational matters. Clubs that fail to comply risk being denied a licence to participate in the league.

KCCA Deputy Executive Director Benon Kigenyi described the meeting as an important milestone in strengthening the governance of the Authority-owned club.

""We want to build a club that makes Kampala proud and consistently wins trophies," Kigenyi said.

He thanked the Government of Uganda for funding to the club and the ongoing redevelopment of MTN Omondi Stadium, which is now in the second phase.

Kigenyi said the club's next priority is to mobilize resources for Phase III of the redevelopment, which includes installing spectator seats, equipping a modern gymnasium, installing lifts, constructing a third stadium entrance and acquiring a team bus.

"We need additional resources to complete the remaining structures, furnish the stadium and make it a modern sports facility," Kigenyi said. "Our responsibility as the board is to mobilize resources and build a club that makes Kampala proud by competing for and winning trophies.”

Members unanimously approved a UGX 6.3 billion budget for this financial year 2026/2027 and also adopted the club's statutes as part of strengthening KCCA FC's governance framework.

Kampala Lord Mayor Ronald Balimwezo Nsubuga, who serves as patron of the club, challenged management and the technical team to restore KCCA FC's competitiveness.

"Management and the technical team must leave no stone unturned, from recruitment to sports science, to restore our competitive edge," Balimwezo said.

He pledged to use his office to grow the club's fan base and strengthen its brand.

"I will use my influence and office to grow the KCCA FC brand because I want to see football continue to grow in Kampala,"Balimwezo said.

Representing FUFA, Ronnie Kalema commended KCCA FC for holding its AGM in compliance with the federation's Club Licensing Regulations, describing it as a positive step toward strengthening governance and professionalism in Ugandan football.

The AGM enables KCCA FC, to meet one of the mandatory governance requirements for licensing ahead of the 2026/27 Uganda Premier League season while reinforcing the Authority's commitment to good governance, accountability and sustainable investment in sport.
