+ Management

The Royal palm is a very beautiful, slender, elegant and relatively fast-growing, single-stemmed evergreen palm tree that does self-pruning when leaves age and turn brown. The crown of the palm should be sprayed regularly with insecticide to deter beetles.

+ Remarks

Roystonea spp. are among the most elegant of the large palms and are widely cultivated. The high oil content of the fruit makes them good stock feed. Popular with nursery men as the seedlings are much sought after and fetch high prices. Mostly planted widely spaced as an ornamental. Some local landscape architects in their plans call for huge Royals with ten feet of brown trunk.
